Location: San Francisco, CA

SFGH plans to construct two retaining walls, two equipment pads, and a pipeline on the existing sloping grade as part of the upgrade to the SFGH Emergency Power Supply System. Prior to completing the design of the project AGS has recently been tasked to perform a geotechnical analysis/geologic hazard assessment.

Prior to preparing schematic drawings of the retaining walls, AGS performed a geotechnical study satisfying the requirements of the 2007 California Code of Regulations [CCR], Title 24, for hospitals. The work performed included a review of available geotechnical, geologic, and seismological data, drilling of five exploratory borings to depths of between 10 and 26.5 feet, hand auguring two shallow borings to depths of between 2.5 and 3 feet, laboratory testing, engineering analysis, and report preparation. As part of the study, AGS prepared a draft geotechnical study report which included recommendations for earthwork, foundations and retaining walls.
