The Richmond Transport project involved construction of a sewer tunnel approximately 13 feet in diameter and two miles long, extending from the Great Highway to U.S. Army Presidio.

Client: City of Stockton
Location: Stockton, CA

The tunnel functions as a 10-million-gallon holding facility to store and transport combined wastewater/stormwater flows.

AGS conducted geologic and geotechnical field explorations to evaluate tunneling conditions along the route, including assessing the rock and soil characteristics and groundwater conditions. The work performed included laboratory testing, in-situ permeability testing, and field pump testing and developed geotechnical recommendations and conclusions regarding tunnel-induced settlements, geoseismic hazards, and cut-and-cover sections of the project. AGS also participated in final design, structural design of some of the facilities, instrumentation monitoring, and construction management consultation during construction.
