Client: US Navy
Location: Monterey, CA

The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) is an accredited research university operated by the United States Navy. Located in Monterey, California, it grants both master’s degrees and doctoral degrees. The school also offers research fellowship opportunities at the postdoctoral level through the National Research Council research associateship program. The NPS student population is mostly active-duty officers from all branches of the U.S. Military, although U.S. Government civilians and members of foreign militaries can also matriculate under a variety of programs.

The project included demolition of existing buildings, relocation of utilities, site regrading, and construction of a 225-car parking lot. AGS was responsible for design of the grading and striping of the parking lot and routing all utility services to the building. The utilities included storm drain, sanitary sewer, potable water, steam supply and return lines, electric power conduits, and gas supply lines.

As part of the scope of work, AGS performed environmental soil and groundwater sampling and testing, and site contamination assessment. AGS also provided civil design and developed geotechnical conclusions and recommendations for design and construction of the proposed academic building.
